Yin Yoga is a nourishing practice that focusing on slowing down and “allowing”. Most Yoga practices are a balance of Yin and Yang energy – heating, invigorating and active work complemented with cooling, calming and resting. Similar to Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga focuses on the more calming or “Yin” element of the practice.
 
Yin Yoga focuses on releasing the deeper soft tissues of body; our ligaments, joints, fascia, and bones and places a particular emphasis on the areas of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. In Yin Yoga, we hold postures for longer periods of time to allow a gentle release within in the body, a return to the breath, the cultivation of mindfulness and the opportunity to truly experience the present moment.

We will finish with an optional 10-15 meditation for those who are interested or enjoy a deliciously long and luxurious Savasana! Absolutely no Yoga or Meditation experience is required.

Restorative Yoga is the perfect antidote to the stress of modern life. It is the art of active relaxation; a refuge from our busy lives and an opportunity to slow down, let go and create ease.

In Restorative Yoga, we practice postures supported by blocks, blankets, bolsters and other props, which allow the body to gently and passively stretch and open. Following the physical practice, we will enjoy an extended relaxation, which will include a guided meditation to bring you to a state of emotional and mental peace. You will leave this workshop feeling calm, refreshed, renewed and restored.

Winter Solstice Celebration with Sandi Powers Thu, Dec 21, 2017 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

At this time in nature, we experience a shift in daylight and begin to emerge from the darkness into the light. In this 2-hour Winter Solstice celebration, we will symbolically use our practice to shift from anxiety, fatigue, and sadness to trust, love and joy.
 
We will:
  • Create sacred space
  • Use Pranayama (breath-work) to awaken our subtle energy
  • Experience a range of different gentle postures (Yin, Hatha and Restorative) poses to help us connect with ourselves, body, mind and soul
  • Rest, reflect, rejoice and celebrate the light within.
